Swag Salute- Writing is Good - Ode to Nas' Life is Good

It's been awhile since I have posted. Thanks to @ErikGParker and his 30-Day Blog Challenge, I am getting back to posting. Salute to you sir.

I have been listening and "living" with Nas' Life is Good album now for a bit and just feel connected to songs like "Bye Baby," "Trust, " Roses, " and "Loco-Motive," to name a few. This album came right on time much like how books come into your life when you need them most. It got me to step back from my daily hustle and reminisce a bit of why I really enjoy and love hip-hop and in particular Nas as an artist. I felt so inclined back in 2000 to dedicate a poem in a book I wrote (under a different pen name)and self-published, Little Bitz:

To Nas, Thanx for Makin' me think!
Tryin' to get a picture
in my head
Of who, what, where,
why, and when
Tryin' to understand the
knowledge you're spittin'
Saliva flowin' through my earz
Leakin' in my head
Travelin'
Bagz pavked movin'
into my thoughts
Pickin' a bed to sleep
In the back of my eyez
Templez ringin' with your voice
Wordz are your weapon,
stabbin' my ribz
Beats reside in my heart
Problemz of the World
breathin' in my lungz
Breakin' my legz with your rhythm
My feet can't run from your storiez
Handz can't grasp the conceptz
Slippin' through my fingerz.

Looking back now, I definitely had lots of creativity and published this book more on a challenge from people on message boards who enjoyed my poetry. It was one of the many things I did follow through with back in the day. I havent really wrote any serious poetry since this book but rather moved into to other forms of writing and expression.
